TRIP TO TUNISIA
Take part in our journey to Tunisia! You will not only get to know the country and its people, we will also make tours through the cities of Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia on foot and by bike.
We will also give you the opportunity to get to know first hand our projects in dungeons and surroundings, the suppliers and manufacturers of our imported products. We will visit small villages, stay overnight with families and visit our olive and almond groves, also a beekeeping is on the visit list. Live and direct interaction with the local population - no staging! A unique experience that only a native Tunisian can offer you.
This is how the trip could look like
Day 1: Arrival in Tunis, transfer by car to Sousse for accommodation (sea view). Local dinner.
Day 2: Breakfast in the residence or in an Arabic cafe directly by the sea. Afterwards we visit Sousse, where we will explore the lively harbour, the beautiful old town and the local markets. In the evening we will cook together the delicious food we found on the markets. We spend the second night again in the same residence.
After, we will head to the Co-Working-Space to meet with the community members and learn about their experiences. It will be an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and network with like-minded individuals who are passionate about sustainable development and community building.
Day 3: Today we drive with a horse-drawn carriage about 10 kilometers along the sea to Monastir or to the golf club Palm Liniks Monastir, where we will have lunch. Who wants, plays a round of golf, before we then continue into the winding old town of Monastir. In the evening we visit a concert with traditional Arabic music. Return journey and overnight stay in Sousse.
Day 4: Today we take it easy. Swimming, strolling and exploring the city. At 16 o'clock we pack our things and make our way to Kerker, a small town, the hometown of our tour guide. Here we will spend the next three days in the tour guide's house.
Day 5 - 7: Homemade Arab breakfast will wake us up. We explore the village, drink coffee, visit the schools and see how the locals live, live and eat. They let us participate in their lives. The family businesses, which produce almonds, olives and honey, show us their farms and fields. The tour guide has built a well in Kerker, which supplies several families in Kerker with drinking and watering water. He informs about the project and points out the details and problems of such an undertaking. On one of the days we visit the impressive Roman arena of El Jem, the famous amphitheatre and the small desert town.
Day 8: Off to the desert - we drive to the Sahara and to the dry-hot salt flats! After about three and a half hours drive we reach the Sahara and visit the village Rif, where we experience the spirit of the Sahara. The cuisine is famous for its originality, and due to the isolation consists of purely regional and simple ingredients. Here handicraft is still the norm! We end the day with a dinner and spend the night in a hotel in Kebili.
Day 9: After a rich breakfast we will meet a group of poets and poets who will talk about the history of their city and the region. With them we go on a special tour through the city. There is no more impressive and authentic way to learn about Arab culture, agriculture, mentality and aspirations. In the evening there is a longer transfer to Tunis, the pulsating capital of Tunisia.
Day 10: After a last breakfast, the return flight from Tunis back to Zurich is scheduled.
